An archived interview in Modara magazine documents Engineer Mostafa Ragab’s work as General Manager of the Engineering Company for Construction and Development, a member of Dorra Group. The interview adds a detailed perspective to the professional history of the current owner of Z Group.
Projects exceeding QAR 2 billion at the time of the interview
The magazine’s headline highlighted a project portfolio valued at QAR 2 billion. In the interview, Ragab described projects being executed by the company as exceeding that amount, including contracting work on towers, residential buildings, villas and residential and commercial complexes in Qatar.
He also discussed three recently signed contracts with a combined value of approximately QAR 800 million in Lusail, Al Khor and Al Nasr. These figures describe the company’s activities during the interview period, and are not figures for Z Group’s current portfolio.
Building teams and managing delivery
Ragab explained that the company had recruited more than 30 engineers with Gulf-region experience to help meet project requirements and delivery schedules. He also described professional development covering project management, construction contracts, claims, disputes and health and safety.
The discussion connected the scale of the company’s work with the staffing and management practices needed to execute it. It also addressed the construction market during the global financial crisis and the rescheduling of activities in response to market conditions.
A source for the professional archive
The interview provides a contemporary account of Ragab’s responsibilities and the subjects he addressed in his management role. Z Group preserves this coverage as part of its owner’s earlier professional history, with the historical company and its projects attributed to the original source.
